Out 5-6 months after surgery
Steffen (shoulder) underwent successful shoulder surgery and is expected to miss approximately five to six months, the club announced.
Analysis: Steffen has made 78 appearances across all competitions for Colorado since joining from Manchester City in January 2024, logging 7,022 minutes and recording 12 clean sheets during his time with the club. In MLS regular season play, the 31-year-old ranks among the club's all-time leaders in multiple goalkeeping categories including fourth in winning percentage at 49.23 percent, sixth in minutes played and seventh in appearances and saves. His absence will extend well into the second half of the MLS season, with Nicholas Defreitas Hansen expected to step into the starting role between the posts while Steffen works through his recovery.
Dealing with shoulder injury
Steffen is out for the time being due to a shoulder injury, and manager Matt Wells said it's uncertain whether the goalkeeper will be back before the World Cup break, according to Burgundy Wave.
